How did you first get into coaching? What has been the driver that has kept you in coaching?
I decided to get into coaching my sophomore year of college. I started talking to all the coaching connections I had to start learning and gaining experience. The driver that has kept me in coaching is my mission of changing lives through basketball; turning people into leaders, role models, friends, and spouses. I know how impactful my coaches have been, and I want to be able to do that for others.
Who has been the biggest influence in your coaching career? Why?
Jeff Clark at Indiana Wesleyan - his emphasis on relationships and giving people opportunities while working hard at his job have been influential for me. He has given me several opportunities to grow as a coach, and he is also one of the most generous people I know. I aspire to be as kind and as good of a coach as he is.
What has been your greatest lesson learned in coaching so far?
Say yes to small opportunities to expand your skill set or get new experience.
What has been your most memorable win?
Most memorable win was beating Chicago State this past season to win a share of the Regular Season WAC Championship. This was the first Division I Conference Title in the history of our school.
What is your favorite team meal?
Gyros!
