How did you first get into coaching? What has been the driver that has kept you in coaching?
I started as a Student Manager at Hampton University. My senior year in College, I was fortunate to get hired as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Christopher Newport University.
Who has been your biggest influence in your coaching career? Why?
My parents have been huge influences on me as well as all the coaches I have worked with over my career. My Dad was a youth basketball coach growing up and introduced me to the game. I've worked with some great people over the years who have helped shape my current coaching philosophy.
What has been your greatest lesson learned in coaching so far?
Hindsight is always 20/20. Being a Head Coach is all about making decisions. Weigh your options, then make a decision and live with it.
What is your favorite team meal?
Any post-game meal after a win!
Tell us a recent book/podcast/movie that has left you inspired as a coach.
Beyond The Boxscore Podcast (David Kaplan) and Unmasked Podcast (Lamar Barrett) have been two of my favorite listens here recently!
Fun Fact: Tell us something about yourself that people would be surprised to know about you.
I was offered a scholarship for Band at Hampton University. I turned it down for the opportunity to serve as a Student Manager. Great decision.
